Where to begin on how amazing our stay was at the Appalachian A-Frame? This dreamy, bohemian A-Frame cabin is situated on two wooded acres just twenty minutes from downtown Boone, North Carolina and it was the perfect locale for a staycation for myself and a friend. As soon as we set foot inside this cozy but spacious cabin, we knew this was a special place. The A-Frame can sleep 8 guests, with three bedrooms, six beds and 2.5 baths total. The master suite upstairs was one of our favorite spots and overlooked the main level with stunning views of the forest and foliage on both sides. When waking up in the morning on the top level, it gave you the feeling you were in a treehouse amidst nature — there was even a swing that provided a quaint reading nook or hangout spot.
The main level kitchen was equipped with anything and everything you might need as far as dish-ware, cleaning supplies, snacks, and coffee items, plus one of the most unique additions: A S’mores’ supply box to be used at the large gathering sized fire pit outside. I loved this touch! The living area had an open-air feel with a farm style table for dining and comfy, plush couches for lounging and watching late night comedies. The book and game collection provided at the cabin is extensive, and such a fun way to connect with guests! Not to mention, the cabin is pet friendly and furry friends are certainly not forgotten: there’s a complimentary dog bed and treats for pups too. The outdoor porch off the back was probably the area we spent the most time during our stay. A picnic table, grill, and hot tub/spa are the main attraction with all the privacy and wooded views your heart could desire. We loved spending time with a glass of wine in the spa, and not to mention, you’re accompanied by incredible views of the North Carolina stars at night.
This A-Frame is perfect for a small party or large family getaway, for the bottom level of the chalet provides an another entire suite that features an additional living area/sink, bathroom, throwback arcade game, a bedroom with two smaller beds, bathroom and laundry amenities. Next time I visit the A-Frame, I’m definitely bringing my mini-humans, because there is plenty of space for all! I’m a big attention to detail person, and that is where I was blown away with the A-Frame’s features and attributes. Both Emily and John South have put so much care into providing anything you might need while staying in their cabin retreat — a series of clipboards greets you on the way in the door that have laid out attraction details for families or couples including local tourist sights, wineries, breweries, restaurants and more to make your stay easier. Towels, shampoo, body washes, soaps, bathrobes are all provided along with a high-chair and pack n’ play for young people to use during their stay. Aside from having every comfort of home with you, the decor of the property is simply breathtaking: eclectic and modern, while staying true to a ‘mountain’ feel — this is a stay we will remember forever!
A sincere thank you to Emily and John for a truly magical stay.
